The Layers plugin for WordPress has a vulnerability that allows authenticated attackers, with contributor-level access and above, to exploit a stored cross-site scripting (XSS) issue through the ‘webcam’ shortcode. This vulnerability arises from inadequate sanitization and output escaping of user-supplied attributes, allowing the injection of malicious web scripts into pages. When a user accesses these compromised pages, the scripts execute, potentially leading to unauthorized actions or data exposure.
