What is CVE-2025-2004?

The Simple WP Events plugin for WordPress has a vulnerability that allows unauthenticated attackers to delete arbitrary files on the server due to insufficient file path validation in the wpe_delete_file AJAX action. This flaw affects all versions up to and including 1.8.17. By exploiting this vulnerability, an attacker can potentially delete critical files such as wp-config.php, which could lead to remote code execution and further compromise the security of the affected WordPress installation.
