What is CVE-2025-4796?

The Eventin plugin for WordPress is susceptible to a privilege escalation vulnerability that allows unauthenticated attackers with contributor-level permissions or higher to manipulate user account information. Specifically, the lack of adequate validation when updating user details, such as email addresses, permits unauthorized changes to admin and user accounts. By exploiting this flaw, attackers can reset passwords and take control of targeted accounts, thereby compromising the security of the involved WordPress installations.
