What is CVE-2025-9485?

The OAuth Single Sign On – SSO (OAuth Client) plugin for WordPress suffers from a significant vulnerability due to its improper handling of JSON Web Tokens (JWT). Versions up to and including 6.26.12 do not adequately verify or validate the signatures of incoming tokens in the get_resource_owner_from_id_token function. This oversight enables unauthenticated attackers to bypass the authentication mechanisms, potentially accessing existing user accounts, including those of administrators under specific configurations. Additionally, attackers could create arbitrary subscriber-level accounts, compromising the security of the WordPress site.

Affected Version(s)

OAuth Single Sign On – SSO (OAuth Client) 0 <= 6.26.12

Exploit Proof of Concept (PoC)

PoC code is written by security researchers to demonstrate the vulnerability can be exploited. PoC code is also a key component for weaponization which could lead to ransomware.
