What is CVE-2026-0867?

The Essential Widgets plugin for WordPress suffers from a Stored Cross-Site Scripting vulnerability that arises from inadequate input sanitization and output escaping on user-supplied attributes. This issue affects all versions up to and including 3.0, allowing authenticated attackers with contributor-level access and above to inject malicious scripts via specific shortcodes. These scripts execute when users visit affected pages, potentially compromising user data and site integrity. A partial fix was introduced in version 3.0.
