What is CVE-2026-109973?

The Image Hover Effects Ultimate Visual Composer plugin for WordPress contains a Stored Cross-Site Scripting vulnerability due to improper handling of user-supplied input. Specifically, the plugin permits authenticated users with contributor-level access and above to inject arbitrary web scripts via the 'flip-box-image-upload-url-01-alt' parameter. This occurs as the plugin saves the image-alt input using sanitize_text_field() without properly escaping the output with esc_attr() in HTML attributes. As a result, attackers can exploit this vulnerability, potentially affecting any page containing the affected shortcode or block.
