Stored Cross-Site Scripting in PublishPress Authors Plugin for WordPress
CVE-2026-111592

6.4MEDIUM

What is CVE-2026-111592?

The PublishPress Authors plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to a Stored Cross-Site Scripting attack via the 'name (maps to display_name)' parameter. This vulnerability affects all versions up to and including 4.17.0 due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping. Authenticated attackers with subscriber-level access and above can exploit this vulnerability to inject arbitrary web scripts into pages. These scripts execute when a user accesses the infected page. To exploit this vulnerability, the attacker must have a mapped author term, which typically occurs when an administrator assigns them co-author status or automatically creates an author term for their role.

Affected Version(s)

Co-Authors, Multiple Authors and Guest Authors in an Author Box with PublishPress Authors 0 <= 4.17.0
