What is CVE-2026-116520?

The PPWP – Password Protect Pages plugin for WordPress is susceptible to Stored Cross-Site Scripting due to inadequate input sanitization and output escaping in the 'comment / shortcode attribute desc_below_form' parameter. This vulnerability affects all versions up to and including 1.9.26, allowing unauthenticated attackers to inject malicious scripts into pages. When a user accesses an exploited page, these scripts can execute without any administrator intervention, as WordPress's comment_content filter allows raw shortcode text to remain untouched, and the comment_whitelist setting can auto-approve further comments from previously trusted names and emails.

Affected Version(s)

PPWP – Password Protect Pages 0 <= 1.9.26
