What is CVE-2026-116522?

The Relevanssi plugin for WordPress suffers from a vulnerability that allows unauthenticated attackers to exploit the 'comment' parameter. This weakness arises from inadequate input sanitization and output escaping in all versions up to 4.28.5. If a site has both comment indexing and highlighting features enabled, an attacker can inject malicious web scripts that execute when a user views a specially crafted page. This poses a significant risk, as the attack is executed through Relevanssi's search-result permalinks, particularly when the highlight query parameter is present.

Affected Version(s)

Relevanssi – A Better Search 0 <= 4.28.5
