5.3MEDIUM

What is CVE-2026-1271?

The ProfileGrid plugin for WordPress, specifically versions up to and including 5.9.7.2, is prone to an Insecure Direct Object Reference vulnerability. This flaw arises when the 'pm_upload_image' and 'pm_upload_cover_image' AJAX actions are executed without proper user authorization checks. Consequently, authenticated users with Subscriber-level access can exploit this vulnerability to alter other users' profile pictures and cover images, impacting even administrators. This oversight underscores the importance of strict authorization measures within plugin architecture to safeguard user profiles.
