What is CVE-2026-12995?

The Custom Field Template plugin for WordPress allows authenticated users with contributor-level access and above to exploit an Insecure Direct Object Reference. This vulnerability stemmed from a lack of validation on a user-controlled key during the edit_meta_value function, enabling attackers to delete arbitrary media attachments across the site. The default configuration of file fields, where the mediaRemove option is not enabled, facilitates this exploitation. To mitigate the risk, site administrators are advised to ensure proper validation measures are implemented and the plugin is updated to a secure version.
