What is CVE-2026-15206?

The SMS Alert WordPress plugin prior to version 3.9.8 exposes a critical flaw in its user authentication mechanism. An attacker can exploit the vulnerability by verifying an OTP sent to their own mobile device and subsequently supplying a different phone number to log in as any user. This potentially allows an unauthorized individual to gain access to user accounts, including those of administrators, that have their phone numbers stored for billing purposes. This flaw highlights significant risks in session management for applications using this plugin.
