What is CVE-2026-16055?

The Contest Gallery plugin for WordPress, prior to version 30.0.7, contains a security flaw that allows attackers to bypass standard authentication mechanisms. By issuing an authentication cookie directly after verifying credentials, the plugin defeats the purpose of brute-force protections and two-factor authentication. This flaw enables attackers to conduct unlimited and unthrottled password guessing attempts against any user account, including those of administrators, potentially leading to complete account takeover.
