What is CVE-2026-16090?
The GamiPress gamification plugin for WordPress is susceptible to a Stored Cross-Site Scripting vulnerability due to inadequate input sanitization and output escaping related to the 'heading_size' shortcode attribute in 'gamipress_achievement'. This vulnerability allows authenticated attackers with contributor-level access and higher to inject malicious scripts that execute whenever a user visits the affected page. The wp_kses_post mechanism employed by WordPress fails to neutralize the payload, as the injected content is stored within a shortcode attribute rather than as a raw HTML tag, leading to potential exploitation at render time.
