Authorization Bypass in Taskbuilder Plugin for WordPress
CVE-2026-1640

4.3MEDIUM

What is CVE-2026-1640?

The Taskbuilder plugin for WordPress is affected by an authorization bypass vulnerability that allows authenticated users with subscriber-level access and above to submit comments on any project or task, including those that are private and not assigned to them. Due to insufficient authorization checks on the AJAX actions responsible for comment submission, attackers can inject arbitrary HTML and CSS into the comment_body parameter, potentially leading to cross-site scripting (XSS) attacks. This vulnerability impacts all versions up to and including 5.0.2.
