What is CVE-2026-1878?

A vulnerability in the ASUS ROG peripheral driver allows an attacker to escalate privileges to SYSTEM level due to insufficient integrity verification during the driver installation process. This issue arises from improper access controls on the installation directory, which creates a race condition. Consequently, attackers can exploit the system by substituting the legitimate installer with a malicious payload immediately after it is downloaded, leading to arbitrary code execution.
