What is CVE-2026-19719?
The Social Media Share Buttons & Social Sharing Icons plugin for WordPress prior to version 3.0.1 is susceptible to Stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS). This vulnerability arises due to the plugin's failure to properly escape post titles before rendering them in inline JavaScript event handlers. As a result, users with the Contributor role and higher permissions can exploit this issue. When a visitor interacts with an affected button, it can lead to arbitrary script execution in the user's browser, depending on the configuration of the icon display. Exploitation is contingent on using a non-default icon display configuration.
Affected Version(s)
Social Media Share Buttons & Social Sharing Icons 0 < 3.0.1
Exploit Proof of Concept (PoC)
PoC code is written by security researchers to demonstrate the vulnerability can be exploited. PoC code is also a key component for weaponization which could lead to ransomware.
