What is CVE-2026-27314?

A privilege escalation vulnerability in Apache Cassandra 5.0 exists in environments utilizing Mutual TLS with the MutualTlsAuthenticator. This flaw allows an attacker with only CREATE permission to associate their own certificate identity with an arbitrary role, including the potential for superuser access. By exploiting this vulnerability, the attacker can authenticate using the compromised role through the ADD IDENTITY command. Users are strongly advised to upgrade to version 5.0.7 or later to mitigate this security risk.
