What is CVE-2026-79960?

An authentication flaw in Gitea allows users with writable deploy keys to bypass permission checks during push operations. This misconfiguration leads to the incorrect attribution of actions to the repository owner rather than the deploy key holder. As a result, it becomes possible to create protected tags without proper authorization, alter repository visibility, such as converting a private repository to public, and incorrectly associate pull requests with the repository owner's identity. This vulnerability necessitates prompt attention to ensure the integrity and security of repository management.
