What is CVE-2026-84935?
The HT Menu plugin for WordPress, prior to version 1.2.7, fails to validate user capabilities or object ownership when saving navigation menu-item settings. This oversight allows users with minimal permissions, such as Subscribers, to inject malicious JavaScript code. When this code is executed in a visitor's browser, it may affect any user, including administrators viewing the compromised menu. Furthermore, the plugin does not sanitize stored settings properly, which exacerbates the risk of XSS attacks.
Affected Version(s)
HT Menu 0 < 1.2.7
Exploit Proof of Concept (PoC)
PoC code is written by security researchers to demonstrate the vulnerability can be exploited. PoC code is also a key component for weaponization which could lead to ransomware.
