What is CVE-2026-88826?

The SmugMug Embed WordPress plugin allows unauthorized users to exploit a vulnerability due to a lack of authorization and CSRF checks on an AJAX action responsible for storing gallery data. Furthermore, the plugin fails to properly sanitize or escape this data before rendering it on the settings screen. This oversight potentially enables unauthenticated attackers to inject arbitrary web scripts that are executed when an administrator accesses the plugin's settings, creating a significant security risk.

Affected Version(s)

SmugMug Embed 0 <= 3.13

Exploit Proof of Concept (PoC)

PoC code is written by security researchers to demonstrate the vulnerability can be exploited. PoC code is also a key component for weaponization which could lead to ransomware.
