What is CVE-2026-8887?

The Listen Shortcode plugin for WordPress suffers from a vulnerability that allows authenticated attackers with contributor-level access or higher to execute arbitrary scripts via the 'listen' shortcode. This issue arises from inadequate input sanitization and output escaping of user-supplied attributes, namely src, start, and end, in the listenEmbedJS() function. When echoed inside a single-quoted HTML attribute without proper escaping, malicious JavaScript can be injected into pages, posing significant security risks to site users.
