What is CVE-2026-8898?

The Events In City plugin for WordPress contains a vulnerability that allows authenticated users with contributor-level access and above to exploit stored cross-site scripting (XSS) through the 'org-events' shortcode. This occurs due to inadequate input sanitization and output escaping for user-supplied attributes such as 'organizer_id', 'width', 'height', 'transparency', 'header', 'border', and 'layout' within the org_event_scode() function. As a result, attackers can inject malicious scripts into pages, which are executed when users access those affected pages, potentially compromising the security of the site.
