What is CVE-2026-91051?

The EWWW Image Optimizer plugin for WordPress, prior to version 8.8.0, allows authenticated users with author-level permissions to insert a serialized value into a post's meta field. Upon rendering, this serialized data is deserialized, which could permit PHP Object Injection. This opens the possibility for remote code execution if a suitable gadget chain exists in the context of an installed, vulnerable version of the EWWW Image Optimizer or another compatible plugin.

Affected Version(s)

EWWW Image Optimizer 8.6.0 < 8.8.0

Exploit Proof of Concept (PoC)

PoC code is written by security researchers to demonstrate the vulnerability can be exploited. PoC code is also a key component for weaponization which could lead to ransomware.
