Arbitrary File Upload Vulnerability in YaySMTP Plugin for WordPress
CVE-2026-92553

8.8HIGH

What is CVE-2026-92553?

The YaySMTP plugin for WordPress is susceptible to an Arbitrary File Upload vulnerability, allowing authenticated attackers with subscriber-level access or higher to upload potentially executable files. This vulnerability arises from inadequate file type validation in the putFile function, where the sanitize_file_name() function fails to eliminate executable extensions and lacks a proper allow-list or MIME type checks. The only server-side safeguard, a .htaccess rule, is ineffective on certain server configurations, including those running nginx or Apache with AllowOverride set to None, thus enabling the possibility of remote code execution.
