Stored Cross-Site Scripting Vulnerability in Password Protected Plugin for WordPress
CVE-2026-93293

6.4MEDIUM

What is CVE-2026-93293?

The Password Protected plugin for WordPress introduces a significant vulnerability due to inadequate input sanitization and output escaping within the Freemius SDK's purchase-completion handler. This vulnerability affects all versions up to and including 2.8.4. After an administrator opts in to the Freemius service, the handler improperly processes the 'purchased_plan' request parameter on any wp-admin request made by authenticated users lacking demonstrable permissions. This oversight permits attackers with subscriber-level access or higher to inject malicious web scripts. These scripts can automatically execute when an administrator accesses specific admin pages, such as their Profile page, posing a grave security risk to the site.
