What is CVE-2026-96524?

The MCP Server plugin for WordPress, prior to version 1.8.2, contains an issue where it fails to properly verify the nonce for REST API calls authenticated via cookies under certain conditions manipulated by an attacker. This flaw could potentially be exploited by unauthenticated adversaries who entice a logged-in administrator to visit a maliciously crafted web page. Such exploitation may result in performing actions restricted to administrator roles, including the creation of new administrator accounts, thereby compromising the integrity and security of the WordPress site.
