What is CVE-2026-96580?

A memory consumption vulnerability occurs in Gitea when expanding the static strategy.matrix into a full Cartesian product without a size limit during workflow runs. This issue emerges before the fork pull request approval gate is applied, allowing potential exploiters to create a small workflow file that expands to an excessively large number of jobs. Such exploitation can lead to excessive consumption of server memory, potentially crashing the Gitea process. As a precautionary measure, the system now rejects static matrices exceeding 256 combinations before expansion, thus mitigating the risks associated with this vulnerability.

Affected Version(s)
