What is CVE-2026-97190?

The Advanced Custom Fields (ACF) WordPress plugin prior to version 6.8.11 fails to appropriately verify user permissions when editing target objects during bidirectional relationship synchronization. This oversight permits users with contributor-level access and above to manipulate relationships by adding or removing references to objects on posts, users, or terms that they should not be authorized to modify. This can lead to unauthorized data modifications and potential exploitation of the affected site.

Affected Version(s)

Advanced Custom Fields (ACF®) 6.2.0 < 6.8.11

Exploit Proof of Concept (PoC)

PoC code is written by security researchers to demonstrate the vulnerability can be exploited. PoC code is also a key component for weaponization which could lead to ransomware.
