What is CVE-2026-97192?

The Secure Custom Fields plugin for WordPress, prior to version 6.9.8, contains a flaw that allows users with contributor-level access and above to bypass restrictions and create custom fields typically reserved for administrators. This happens because the plugin fails to re-apply its field-group location rules when saving changes through the post editor. Consequently, unauthorized users can exploit this failure to inject custom field values into their posts, potentially compromising site integrity and control.
