What is CVE-2026-97328?

The WebP Express plugin for WordPress, prior to version 0.25.16, contains a significant vulnerability that allows unauthenticated users to inject malicious scripts into web pages. This occurs due to insufficient sanitization of input sent to the HTML parser, particularly when the non-default image delivery mode is in use. As a result, any user who accesses an affected page, including site administrators, could have their browser execute stored scripts, leading to potential data theft or site compromise.

Affected Version(s)

WebP Express 0 < 0.25.16

Exploit Proof of Concept (PoC)

PoC code is written by security researchers to demonstrate the vulnerability can be exploited. PoC code is also a key component for weaponization which could lead to ransomware.
